The leting agents derby, Incorporated is dedicated to promoting responsible real estate and helping consumers who have a need for property for investment, rental or resale. It is a not-for-profit membership organization that works to advocate and strengthen the rights of consumers, while serving as an agent for the national Leasing Agents Association. Through its National Auctioneers Association, the LANA assists its members in the preparation and conduct of fair local auctions and works to educate auctioneers and prospective home buyers about proper real estate conduct. The mission of the association is to advocate and work for better housing practices by eliminating fraudulent practices, minimizing the number of complaints brought forth against brokers, requiring reporting of any questionable activities to the Department of Justice and aiding those who are unjustly wrongfully accused of crimes at auction.
The International Association of Realtors (IAR) also has a strong interest in increasing responsible purchasing practices by members. Because of the nature of the IAR, its members must continually renew their license to become registered brokers with the IAR. In order to maintain the license, the IAR holds rigorous annual re-registration drives. In addition to helping the real estate industry to maintain its good reputation, the IAR assists the public in understanding the ins and outs of buying real estate.
The North American Society of Real Estate Appraisers (NASREA) is an organization dedicated to improving the quality of Real Estate Investing by offering educational training, promoting responsible investing, and providing resources for other real estate professionals. NASROA conducts national and regional seminars to bring together members who share an interest in Real Estate Investing. At these seminars, the Society encourages new agents and auctioneers to become informed about ethical practices and to attend auctions held by other NAR members. In addition, NASROA provides a forum for auctioneers to share information about current issues and possible solutions. This group also participates in studies conducted by NAR to improve ethical standards within the industry. NAR’s national convention provides a venue where all NAR members can share ideas and experiences relating to real estate.
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) is a non-profit membership organization that was formed in 1974. Its mission is “to promote responsible purchasing and rental of residential, commercial, and industrial properties.” The primary goal of the Association is to create a “marketplace for property-related information and representation.” Since its founding, the NAR has developed a strong national presence and today is a vital player in the real estate industry.
In addition to holding national conferences, the NAR publishes a number of magazines and publications, as well as an online website. A current issue is The New Agent. The NAR also publishes a quarterly magazine, which is available to subscribers online. Several well-known real estate agents have contributed articles to the magazine including Lloyd Bridges and Robert Yorey.
The Derby is one of the most popular annual real estate trade shows. Many of the nation’s top real estate professionals attend this prestigious event each year. The NAR offers a variety of exhibits, seminars, workshops, and travel seminars that provide state-of-the-art knowledge on how agents can successfully handle their own and their client’s real estate transactions. By participating in the Derby, real estate professionals gain much needed exposure to a variety of topics related to real estate.
